A floor-to-ceiling stacked rock fireplace in the living room welcomes weary travelers to relax and unwind while enjoying the mountain and meadow views from this quiet cabin in the Northeast Ga. Blue Ridge mountains. Walls of tongue-in-groove knotty pine give warmth to the main rooms, which are accented with maple floors.

Built in 2005, this cabin features 2 oversized bedrooms and an extra loft which sleeps 2. A full acre of natural woods habitat next to the cabin provides natural privacy to the outdoor hottub and has been enhanced with native landscaping and feeders to attract lots of birds and butterflies. Deer and wild turkey are often spotted strolling though the property.

Porch and wrap around 3 sides deck with lots of seating makes kicking back and relaxing easy. Whether you are sittingon the porch, deck, rustic log furniture or in the hottub with  built-in entertainment sound system, themountains are always in front of you.

The upstairs master suite, adjacent to the loft , has a deluxe king sized bed. The master bath has a jetted tub that overlooks the woods and features a huge walk-in closet.

Main floor bedroom, with a queen size bed, has french doors that overlook front porch and more mountain views. Sleeping facilities are augmented by a chair-and-a-half twin sleeper in the living room. A futon in large loft folds down to accomoate children and extra guests.

All stainless steel appliances are featured in the fully equiped kitchen.

Outdoors is an easily accessable full hook-up RV pad (50 amp power, city water, sewer & Cable TV) adjacent to the cabin, which accomodates up to 39' rigs. A large custom-designed wood burning fire pit on the edge of the property allows you to roast as many marshmellows as you dare enjoy.
This cabin is accessed by well-paved roads with no excessively steep slopes.

The oversized galley kitchen makes cooking a pleasure with functional prep space and laundry room/pantry. The Great Room opens to a screened porch and wrap around deck overlooking Lake Burton.

The master bedroom on the main floor has sliding glass door to  a private deck and sunning area, carpet and pine tongue and groove ceilings and a walk in closet.  The master bath has a shower, double vanity and separate water closet.

The guest room on main level has carpet and pine beamed ceilings, a full bath with shower and white beadboard and tile flooring.

A full length catwalk leads to the upstairs bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms share a full bath between them with a tub/shower, tile flooring and beadboard.

Awaken to lake views from the upstairs master bedroom  with reading/sunning balcony to get away for private time. High vaulted pine ceilings, carpet and a full bath with tub and separate water closet complete this perfect spot to relax and get away from pressures.

Enjoy the bathing beauties in the fresh and happy full guest bath with vibrant sunshine walls and pine ceiling and floors.

The partially finished lower level offers a game/media room with extra sleeping in the bonus room. An entrance to the outside stone walk way leads to the two stall boathouse. An easy lighted boardwalk framed by mountain laurel introduces a wonderful deck complete with screened porch and open decking for sunbathing. Deep water and wonderful views await you at the water's edge.

The house was renovated in 2000.  You need to see it to appreciate it!

FROM THE OWNERS:

We drove down the one lane road through a canopy of mountain laurel in bloom. We were almost hooked. And then we saw the view of the lake and the surrounding mountains from the old weathered deck, and I knew we had found our special slice of heaven. Sure, the old fishing cabin was small, but it had been kept spotless by the previous owner. With the comfortable furnishings and wood paneled walls, it was like stepping back into the 70ʼs. But we felt right at home. How wonderfully convenient it is to be able walk right into the house with only one step up.

 

Less than a 2-hour trip from door to door made it for us easy to slip away for a day or a week. Our first project was to update the old one slip boat house, allowing us to host up to 25 people for a few July 4th celebrations. Anyone under 25 thinks it is a great place to sleep! Jumping off the top of the boat house has also become a favorite activity—even for the older folks.

 

When we renovated the cabin, we wanted to preserve its homey, rustic feel. Keeping the original rafters exposed in the kitchen and bedroom has enabled us to retain that charm. More windows and doors were added to let in the natural light, wonderful views and nice breezes.

 

Most of our time is spent on the back porch watching the boaters, skiers and wildlife. Lots of time spent rocking and watching the humming birds come faithfully to our feeders each year. It is the place we sit in the morning with coffee to wake up, to visit and tell tall tales and laugh with old friends, to eat meals, to watch kids and grandkids play, to glimpse an eagle or even a bear, and to finish the day with a cold beer or glass of wine as we see the last of the sun’s rays.

 

We love sleeping under the breeze of the fans and the cool summer nights. We love the quiet and the sense of peace we find there. We love that whoever visits is just as mesmerized by this place as we are.

 

Now we have children and grandchildren living out West who aren’t able to come as often to enjoy the lake with us, so we find ourselves spending more time with them during the summer months. The decision to let go of our piece of paradise does not come easy, but we hope another family will find the contentment and joy that our lake house has brought to us.
